Project overview

This anniversary film for Born to Be Beautiful focused on telling the story of the charity’s mission to support vulnerable young women through vocational beauty training in Uganda. The project involved conducting interviews with founder Sarah Glover, alongside trustees and volunteers, to build a personal and emotionally driven narrative around the charity’s history and impact. The organisation works to provide beauty therapy skills to women affected by poverty, exploitation, and lack of opportunity, helping them gain independence and long-term employment opportunities.

project process

Using interview footage combined with video captured by Sarah during visits to Uganda, the film explored both the wider social challenges faced by the girls the charity supports and the positive change created through education and training. The edit focused heavily on narrative structure, weaving together personal stories, charity history, and observational footage to create an inspiring and authentic final piece. This project highlights my ability to create story-led documentary content with a strong emotional focus, balancing sensitive subject matter with visually engaging storytelling and purposeful editing.
